Earlier this year, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) hosted a series of in-person and digital stakeholder sessions across California. From Los Angeles to Fresno and back up to Sacramento, nearly 400 Californians joined us in-person and via livestream to learn more about and provide feedback on CPPA’s proposed regulations concerning automated decisionmaking technology (ADMT), cybersecurity audits, and risk assessments. You can view a recording of the Los Angeles, Fresno, and Sacramento webcasts online.
CPPA also hosted a remote stakeholder session covering Senate Bill 362 — the Delete Act — which requires the CPPA to implement an accessible deletion mechanism (named DROP) for consumers to delete their data from multiple data brokers at once. It also requires data brokers to register with the CPPA. You can view the June 26 stakeholder session for DROP online.
CPPA was grateful to receive invaluable feedback from concerned consumers, small business owners, advocacy groups, and privacy professionals on the proposed regulations.
CPPA will continue to hold additional public meetings as part of the rulemaking process. If you’d like to be notified of upcoming rulemaking activity, including when the formal comment period opens, you can sign up for our mailing lists to receive email updates.
We also invite the public to join us at our next Board Meeting on Friday, October 4, either in-person at 505 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco, or online via Zoom. Whether by attending public meetings or submitting public comment, we hope you’ll stay engaged and encourage others to get involved in the Agency’s rulemaking activities.
