Getting ready for deletion request processing

The DROP team will walk through key requirements, timelines, and technical considerations to help you prepare for compliance. All businesses operating as a data broker in California must access DROP and download their first batch of deletion requests within 45 days of August 1, 2026. Both sessions will cover the same topics:

  • An overview of the Delete Act and the regulatory obligations for data brokers, including key dates
  • An introduction to the consumer experience in DROP
  • A detailed walkthrough of the DROP Sandbox, including testing steps, benefits, and use of sandbox endpoints
  • The deletion request processing workflow, including list selection, API key generation, download and upload requirements, standardization and hashing requirements and more
  • Implementation considerations related to launch preparation
  • Links to available documentation and resources

The California Privacy Protection Agency (CalPrivacy) hosts a variety of public events throughout the year in support of its statutory responsibilities and public engagement efforts. These events may include Board meetings, public comment hearings, workshops, webinars, informational sessions, and other public-facing activities.

Event materials—including agendas, notices, presentations, recordings, transcripts, and other supporting documents—are posted when available and may vary depending on the type of event.

Unless otherwise indicated, meetings of the California Privacy Protection Agency Board are open to the public. Closed sessions, when authorized by law, will be identified on the meeting agenda. Board meeting agendas are generally posted at least 10 days before each meeting in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Recordings, when available, are generally posted within two weeks following the meeting.
