How to protect your information

Californians have the strongest consumer privacy protections in the country. But many of us don’t have the time or expertise to exercise our rights. The California Privacy Protection Agency is working hard to make privacy easy. Follow these tips to get more control over your privacy.

Enable Opt-out preference signals. A woman points toward a signal
Submit a privacy request - A man fills out a paper form
Limit website tracking - a person in a browser uses a sword and shield to defend itself against eyes
Limit mobile device tracking - footprints surround a person who is struggling to float in a pool/phone surrounded by apps and icons
Secure your account - a person tries to login on their phone
Monitor breaches and watch for scams - a woman holds up a magnifying glass to detect a scammer hiding in a letter
Submit a complaint - a hand pushes a paper into a submission box
Additional protections - three people search for something next to a search bar
